The structural analysis program RFEM is the basis of a modular software system. The main program RFEM is used to define structures, materials, and loads for planar and spatial structural systems consisting of plates, walls, shells and members. The program also allows you to create combined structures as well as model solid and contact elements.RFEM provides deformations, internal forces, stresses, support forces, and soil contact stresses. The corresponding add-on modules facilitate data input by automatic generation of structures and connections or can be used to perform further analyses and designs according to various standards. The modular software concept allows you to compile a program package tailored to your individual needs.

It is possible to upgrade the program at any time.
They are hard to find. Some of the best I've seen:'A First Course in the Finite Element Method' (2011), by: Daryl L. Logan'Introductory Guide to Finite Element Analysis', (2003), by: A. Becker'Building Better Products with Finite Element Analysis' (1st Edition, 1998), by: Adams & AskenaziFor me, Logan's is (hands down) the best. I came away from it understanding the method much better.
There is a chapter set aside for practicality issues. Good aspect ratios for plates and so forth. Good elements to use to model certain behaviors. Etc.) Becker's book is real good too.The Adams & Askenazi book I kind of recommend with reservations. Some people call it dumbed down and so on (there is virtually no math in it at all).but if you know the background of the technique, it does make for some interesting reading. RE: Practical FEA book (Structural) 18 Apr 18 00:03. It depends on what you're looking for.My favorite one for structural engineers is a book that doesn't do any plate elements, just beam members.
'Matrix Structural Analysis' by McGuire, Gallagher, and Ziemian. Now, if you're interested in dynamics, plates and solids and such then this isn't the book for you. But, it does a great job with frames and geometric non-linearity and such.In fact, I lost access to my copy because it really belonged to my previous employer. This thread is a good reminder to me that I need to purchase another copy.
RE: Practical FEA book. Let me know what you find. I always wanted to find a reference that would do a better job of walking me through the derivation of shape functions.
Even it it started with elements that are no longer practical to use. When I was at RISA, I could always research various methods and such. But, then hand the derivation off to Christine (a brilliant PhD developer) who speaks English well, but who's primary language must be Variational Calculus or such. RE: Practical FEA book (Civil/Environmental) 18 Apr 18 17:33. Finite Element Method/Analysis (FEM/A) book listThis compilation is done based on referred books and research online in all related forums regarding recommendation of good books for FEM/A.Note- This list may be biased since I have not completely read each and every book but just come across recommended books online. However, it can get you started immediately for required information.Category 1-Practical Engineering Analysis Approach (Beginner and Intermediate level)This category books are for beginners and intermediate users who are learning FE method/analysis software, Students who want to start using software, practicing stress analysts and all professional design engineers who do not want mathematics (still some of these books come with mathematics, which is essential to understand FEM/A).
